Children who are 3-5 years of age may also be registered and participate in our “TINY TOTS” program. The emphasis here is on FUN while developing basic motor skills through simple games. Emphasis is not on competition but on the development of young children. Games include activities such as running and jumping over rope ladders, mini hurdles, hoops, throwing and catching bean bags or playing with the big parachute. Children also participate in ‘Athletics’ events such as long jump, 50m sprint and 100m run. Further information on the Tiny Tots Centre Program can be accessed here.
Tiny Tots sessions are held at all Home Meets, generally Saturdays from 9.00am with some Twilight Meets from 6.30pm, and go for approximately one (1) hour. Tiny Tots sessions are also held at Regional and Association Meets such as the SA State Classic which is held at SA Athletics Stadium, Mile End. Please check the Program page and Facebook and Instagram for updated information.
Tiny tots requires that at least one parent remains with their child. Children must remain in Tiny Tots for the entire season, even once they turn 5 years old, as per the SALAA Constitution. All regular attending Tiny Tots will receive a Participation Medal and certificate at the end of year Trophy Presentations.
