SUNDAY 18 DECEMBER AT SA ATHLETICS STADIUM
This season’s State Relay Championships were again a success for GGLAC. Our teams came away with 4 Gold, 5 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal. Four new Centre Best Performances were set and many of our field athletes achieved new Personal Bests in their events. Congratulations to everyone who participated and supported our athletes. GGLAC placed 5th on the Pam Sard Champion Centre Table with 86 points.
This year we had 76 athletes competing in 40 teams. Lots of work goes in behind the scenes to ensure that the day runs smoothly. We need to acknowledge Andy and Abbie for putting the teams together, following up with parents and finding late substitutions to make sure we had as many teams and athletes competing as possible.
Huge thanks also to our coaches Grahame, Paul, Terry, Andy, Abbie and Bec for training sessions and all their efforts on the day motivating, warming up the athletes and marshalling them on time. We cannot thank you enough.
Thanks also to Owen, Paul, Emily, Abbie, James, Tracy, Vanessa & Jodie for setting up our area ensuring that we had plenty of shade and that the day ran smoothly. To all our families who cheered on the teams we thank you. Your support and encouragement help calm the nerves and inspires confidence. Well done to all the athletes, parents, siblings, committee members and coaches who participated in the birthday themed march past on the day. Big thanks to our club captains Emily and Aiden and coach Abbie for organising the banners etc.
Finally, thanks to Owen, Jodie and Paul for officiating all day, all the parents who completed allocations and our athletes that competed throughout the day. We love that you all tried your best and did the Club proud. We hope you all enjoyed the experience, regardless of the results.
