SUNDAY 2 FEBRUARY AT SA ATHLETICS STADIUM

After the event was cancelled in December due to hot weather, State Relay Championships were held on a hot day in February. High jump was cancelled from the field relay along with the U8 shuttle runs and the parent relays in an effort to reduce the length of the day. Our teams came away with a total of 12 medals, 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze across the day. We placed 6th on the Pam Sard Champion Centre Table with 76 points. This year we had 41 athletes competing in 28 teams. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped out both in the lead up and on the day. Thanks to Abbie and Andy for all their work with putting the teams together and managing the change of date and the last minute changes to ensure that as many athletes as possible had a chance to compete. Thanks also to our coaches for all their support with training leading up to the event and their coaching and organisation on the day in very hot conditions.

Shout out also to all the committee members for setting up and packing up our area and for supporting all the athletes and families on the day. Huge thanks out to Owen, Jodie and Ian spending their day in the hot sun officiating. Congratulations to all the athletes, who competed and did their best in trying conditions. Final thanks to all the siblings and families who turned up on the day and provided support, encouragement and cheering over the day.

Relay Day is one of the committee’s favourite days on the season calendar. We enjoy watching the club come together as one big team competing together, supporting each other and proudly representing GGLAC. We hope you all enjoyed the experience as much as we did.
