2020/2021 SA POWER NETWORKS STATE RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

SUNDAY 13 DECEMBER AT SA ATHLETICS STADIUM

This season’s COVID impacted State Relay Championships were again a success for GGLAC with our teams winning 4 Gold, 4 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals. Three new Centre Best Performances were set and many of our field athletes achieved new Personal Bests in their event. Congratulations to everyone who participated. GGLAC placed 4th on the Pam Sard Champion Centre Table with 102 points.

This year we had 95 athletes competing in 46 teams. Lots of work goes in behind the scenes to ensure that the day runs smoothly. We need to acknowledge Grahame and Jodie for putting the teams together, following up with parents and finding late substitutions to make sure we had as many teams and athletes competing as possible.

Huge thanks also to our coaches Grahame, Paul, Andy, and Bec for training sessions and all their efforts on the the day motivating, warming up the athletes and marshalling them on time. We cannot thank you enough.

Thanks also to Owen, Ian, Grahame and Paul for setting up our area and ensuring that we all had plenty of shade. To all our families who cheered on the teams we thank you. Your support and encouragement help calm the nerves and inspires confidence. Well done to all the athletes, parents, siblings, committee members and coaches who participated in the COVID impacted march past on the day. Big thanks to Abbie, Lara and Emily for organising Elmo and Cookie Monster masks and the banners.

Finally, thanks to all our athletes that competed throughout the day, we love that you all tried your best and did the Club proud. We hope you all enjoyed the experience, regardless of the results.

Congratulations to all our medal winners. Special acknowledgement to our Mum’s relay team on winning their 4th consecutive gold medal.
