GGLAC is on the lookout for a volunteer to help maintain the website. If you, or someone you know, are able to spare a couple of hours a week to help out we would love to hear from you. You do not need to be on the committee or even be a member of the club to undertake this role. You just need access to a computer, some basic IT skills and the willingness to work as part of a great team. Our website is an important part of our club and our communication with members. We are looking forward to finding someone to fill this position as soon as possible. Please get in contact with us via email or Facebook if you are interested in finding out more about the role. Thanks Golden Grove LAC committee

There have been a number of GGLAC athletes continuing through to the Cross Country season, setting some personal bests and achieving some really good results for the club.

The season concluded on Sunday 21st July at Carisbrooke Park with the State Championships being held on one of the most challenging courses set for the year.

Congratulations goes to the following athletes who represented GGLAC and qualified for this event:

  • Olivia Williams
  • Jack Williams
  • Mason Edwards
  • Ella Edwards
  • Imogen Edwards
  • Catelyn Monaghan
  • Aiden Edwards
  • Tyler Edwards
  • Hunter Fieldhouse
  • Cooper Fieldhouse
  • Rubi Fieldhouse
  • Hamish McGowan-Graeber
  • Holly McGowan-Graeber

Special mention goes to Jack Williams for having an outstanding season and winning his age group (U11B) at the state level.

Big thanks also goes out to Owen for marshalling and Terry for being starter for all of the races held.

The Cross Country season takes place all around the state from May – July, from Carisbrooke to Mt Barker, Enfield to Barossa, Tea Tree Gully to Tatachilla. Up hill and down dale, through rivers and streams, over ditches and fallen logs, the terrain is always a challenge, and then of course, there is the weather!

Well done to all, you’ve done your club proud.

Enjoy the well-deserved break and rest up ready for 2019-2020 Track and Field season, just around the corner.

We are always on the lookout for parents to become qualified as either a Coach, Official or both!
If you are interested in either of these fields or both then please consider the following:

BECOME A COACH – To obtain the basic qualifications you can complete the Introduction to Coaching Course or the Level 1 Community Athletics Coach Course. GGLAC is able to assist with the cost for these courses and we ask you to read our Coaching Policy and speak to one of our coaches or a committee member for more information.

BECOME AN OFFICIAL – In order to record and recognise Centre Records at a local level you must be Level 1 Qualified in that event. To complete the theory component of all events is FREE and just requires your time to complete the relative courses. None of these course are hard to complete, they also allow you to jump back through the course to review the information. Here are the basics to get you started.

Level 0 of the course is not compulsory, it is strongly recommended you complete the modules.

Level 1 – There is a module for each event, you can complete just 1 in a particular event, a few, or all the modules. For example, if you only complete the Long Jump module, you will only be qualified to judge Long Jump and no other events. We recommend you complete all the events in Little Athletics to have a full understanding of them all. All modules can be completed in your own time and we ask that you email us your Certificate of Completion for each module so we know who is qualified.

Again speak to any of our Committee if you are interest or wish to know more.
